Job Description
Student Engineer - Internship or Co-op

Magnum Systems | Evansville, Indiana

Turn classroom knowledge into real-world engineering experience.

Ready to see your ideas come to life? Join Magnum Systems at our Evansville facility and gain hands-on experience with the technology that powers manufacturing. You'll work alongside experienced engineers on real projects involving industrial automation, control systems, and industrial information technology.

We offer a one-semester internship or three-semester co-op experience for undergraduate students pursuing electrical or computer engineering, computer science, or a related technology degree.

Your Experience

You'll be paired with a mentor and work with a collaborative team that welcomes questions, shares knowledge, and helps you build confidence. Your experience will be tailored to your skills and career interests, with opportunities to explore hardware design, system configuration, and software development.

Learning extends beyond our facility, with opportunities to visit customer manufacturing sites and see engineering solutions in action. Academic credit may be available through your school's internship or co-op program.

What You'll Work On

With guidance from our engineering team, you may:

  • Help design, develop, and test industrial control and information systems.

  • Develop and test programmable logic controller (PLC) ladder logic.

  • Create human-machine interface (HMI) applications and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) solutions.

  • Configure and test industrial networks, servers, and related equipment.

  • Create control drawings and network diagrams using AutoCAD.

  • Assist with control panel wiring, assembly, and testing.

  • Prepare technical documentation for engineered systems.

What You'll Bring
  • Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer & Information Technology, or a closely related field.

  • A GPA of 3.3 or higher in major coursework.

  • Availability for a one-semester internship or three-semester co-op.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a basic understanding of manufacturing, automation, or industrial control systems.

  • Experience contributing to team-based technical projects.

  • An interest in hands-on work, including wiring, assembly, and basic power tool use.

  • Clear communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to safe work practices.

Who Will Thrive Here

You're curious, willing to ask questions, and ready to try something new. You welcome feedback, follow through on assignments, and enjoy working with others to solve technical challenges.
