Job Title: RME Mechatronics & Robotics Maintenance Technician II (Temporary)Job Description

This role supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling equipment, automated packaging systems, and robotics within a large, high-speed distribution facility. The Mechatronics & Robotics Technician II performs predictive and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of conveyors and other material handling equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment such as conveyors and related automation systems.
  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance routines on material handling, robotic, and automated conveyor systems, including completing all required documentation and procedures.
  • Conduct battery changes and perform preventative maintenance on industrial batteries.
  • Enter downtime events and maintenance activities into daily logs and complete preventative maintenance (PM) sheets accurately and on time.
  • Manage, update, and close work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Apply basic electrical knowledge to work safely with electrical components and systems within material handling and robotic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with mechanical, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic systems to identify root causes of equipment failures.
  • Repair and restore material handling equipment and automated conveyor systems to full operation following troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to support maintenance and repair activities.
  • Track, organize, and store department inventory, including spare parts and maintenance supplies, to ensure availability of critical components.
  • Follow and demonstrate safety standards and best practices in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidance and internal safety procedures.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications to document maintenance activities, prepare reports, and communicate with team members.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and system performance.
  • Assist with the operation, inspection, and maintenance of robotic systems and PLC-based control systems as needed.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and operations staff to minimize downtime and maintain high levels of equipment availability.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on industrial or automated equipment.
  • 2+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls.
  • 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • 2+ years of knowledge and hands-on work with electrical and electronic principles.
  • 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment.
  • 1+ year of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with MHE systems.
  • 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with automated conveyor systems, including maintenance and repair.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and related components.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments performing maintenance on complex systems and industrial equipment, including diagnostics, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and creating work orders.
  • Hands-on experience with conveyors and other material handling equipment, including controls and robotics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations systems.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders and maintenance records.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a willingness to identify and implement process and reliability enhancements.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow within a Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering (RME) environment.
  • Experience working with MHE safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and internal safety standards.
  • Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in Mechanical or Electrical fields, or equivalent technical education.
  • 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field.
  • 2+ years of experience working with PLC-based control systems.
  • Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an industrial or automated setting.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large distribution facility that operates high-speed automation and robotics-driven material handling systems. Technicians work around conveyors, robotic components, and other advanced industrial equipment in a fast-paced, performance-focused environment. Performance metrics are tracked through data and systems to ensure expectations are clear and progress is transparent, without day-to-day micromanagement. The position requires regular walking throughout the facility, often totaling approximately 10,000 steps per day, and the ability to lift up to 49 pounds at a time. Technicians must be open to working any 10-hour shift, with positions available across multiple shifts, and must maintain appropriate industrial attire suitable for a high-volume warehouse and maintenance setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Richmond, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
