Imagine starting your shift with a plan: a delivery of columns arrives at 8:00, the Python structural steel processing machine needs its next run staged by 9:30, and production wants tubing pulled for the afternoon. You’ve mapped the laydown zones, cleared the lanes, and coordinated with the shopnow the yard runs on your cadence.

Your mission

As PEC’s Fabrication Yard Operations & Rigging Coordinator, you will control material flow across the structural steel yardkeeping people safe, schedules on track, and steel exactly where it belongs.

Core impact areas
  • Daily yard orchestration: arrange, label, and maintain logical laydown areas for easy retrieval.
  • Inbound/outbound handling: load and unload structural steel, fabricated components, and equipment with certified forklift operation.
  • Accessibility: preserve clear travel paths so trucks, forklifts, lifts, and other equipment move without risk.
  • Production readiness: stage material for deliveries, pickups, and Python machine processing.
  • Collaboration: coordinate continuously with the Structural Steel Shop, fabrication teams, and drivers.
  • Accuracy: confirm materials land in the correct designated locations; prevent damage, loss, and unsafe storage.
  • Rigging excellence: apply proper rigging techniques for long, oversized, and heavy members.
  • Housekeeping and safety: remove debris/banding/scrap, perform pre-op checks on equipment, and act on hazards promptly.
  • Shop support: assist with material moves and related tasks whenever needed.
What you bring Required
  • Current forklift certification with a track record of safe operation.
  • Experience loading, unloading, staging, and moving heavy materials.
  • Ability to work safely around structural steel, trucks, forklifts, lifts, and heavy equipment.
  • Skill in creating and maintaining an organized laydown yard and staging plan.
  • Strong safety orientation, organizational habits, and housekeeping standards.
  • Clear communication with drivers, shop personnel, supervisors, and team members.
  • Dependability and self-direction with limited supervision.
  • Ability to follow instructions and set priorities aligned with production and shipping needs.
Preferred
  • Experience in a structural steel fabrication plant, steel yard, metal fabrication facility, or similar industrial environment.
  • Hands-on handling of beams, columns, tubing, plate, angle, and related steel shapes.
  • Rigging background for long, oversized, and heavy steel products.
  • Familiarity with structural steel fabrication processes and equipment.
  • Exposure to automated structural steel processing systems such as Python or equivalent.
Physical realities
  • Outdoor/industrial work in varying weather conditions.
  • Standing, walking, bending, climbing, and physical activity for the duration of the shift.
  • Working safely around moving vehicles, forklifts, cranes, lifts, machinery, and heavy materials.
  • Lifting and carrying materials as the job requires.

  • Materials are staged correctly and production stays supplied.
  • Loads turn fastarrivals and departures run on time.
  • Travel lanes are consistently clean, organized, and safe.
  • The yard enables safe, organized, and productive Structural Steel operations at PEC.
