We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead core finance operations for a transport organization in Cranberry Twp, Pennsylvania. This Long-term Contract position will oversee accounting, billing, treasury, payroll, and collections while ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls. The ideal candidate brings deep month-end close expertise, strong analytical judgment, and the ability to support business leaders with clear financial insight.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee day-to-day performance across billing, carrier accounting, general accounting, treasury, collections, and payroll to maintain service levels and financial accuracy.
• Direct the monthly close cycle by reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, balance sheet activity, and profit-and-loss results to deliver timely financial statements.
• Ensure accounting records and reporting processes remain accurate, complete, and compliant with organizational standards and applicable regulations.
• Establish and refine financial controls that verify carrier payments align with current contractual terms and approved practices.
• Lead budgeting activities for multiple business units, track results against plan, and provide recommendations based on performance trends.
• Partner with operational leaders to explain financial impacts, support decision-making, and identify opportunities to improve margins and cash flow.
• Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and safeguarding measures that strengthen internal control over company assets.
• Coordinate external audit support and tax preparation activities with outside accounting advisors and maintain productive relationships with banks, vendors, and other third parties.
• Collaborate with subsidiary finance teams to prepare consolidated reporting and promote consistent accounting practices across the broader business.
• Recruit, coach, and evaluate finance staff while supporting special projects and additional business priorities as assigned by executive leadership.• Proven experience in a Controller or senior finance leadership role within a complex business environment, preferably in transport, logistics, or a related industry.
• Strong background managing month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, balance sheet review, and financial statement preparation.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance reporting across multiple business units.
• Knowledge of internal controls, audit coordination, regulatory compliance, and sound accounting practices.
• Experience leading teams across accounting, billing, payroll, treasury, or collections functions.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to advise both finance and operational stakeholders.
• Proficiency in reviewing financial data to identify cost savings, improve cash flow, and support revenue optimization.
• Familiarity with document control and financial processes that support high-volume operational environments.
