Clayton Services is searching for a Warehouse Manager to join a thriving company in the Houston area. The Warehouse Manager will oversee daily warehouse operations, inventory control, receiving, material staging, and distribution while ensuring field crews have the correct materials, tools, and equipment needed to complete scheduled work.

Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 annually
Benefits: Full benefits available upon permanent hire.

Warehouse Manager Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, material staging, and distribution.
  • Maintain organized and clearly labeled storage locations for construction materials, supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Accurately record incoming materials, items issued to crews, transfers, returns, and other inventory activity.
  • Conduct cycle counts and physical inventories and investigate inventory discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with purchasing to ensure materials are available for upcoming projects.
  • Identify damaged, excess, or slow-moving inventory and recommend appropriate action.
  • Verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery documentation for accuracy, quantity, condition, and project assignment.
  • Document shortages, damaged materials, and incorrect deliveries and assist with resolving vendor discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate receiving documentation to support purchasing and accounting processes.
  • Coordinate vendor returns and maintain documentation associated with credits and returned materials.
  • Review upcoming projects and schedules to anticipate material requirements.
  • Stage and label materials by project and construction phase prior to scheduled pickup or delivery.
  • Verify material quantities and specifications before releasing orders to field crews.
  • Communicate material shortages or potential delays to appropriate team members.
  • Coordinate loading and deliveries as needed.
  • Inspect, count, and document unused materials returned from job sites.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
  • Work closely with Operations, Scheduling, Purchasing, Accounting, and field personnel to minimize material delays and control waste.

Warehouse Manager Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, receiving, and material management.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction or field-service environment.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to accurately maintain inventory records.
  • Ability to read purchase orders, material lists, delivery tickets, and related documentation.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with vendors, field crews, purchasing, operations, and accounting.
  • Comfortable working hands-on in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to identify inventory discrepancies and resolve issues quickly.
  • Strong commitment to warehouse safety, organization, and accuracy.

Warehouse Manager Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous warehouse management, warehouse supervision, or inventory management experience required.
  • Experience supporting construction, manufacturing, distribution, or field-service operations strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing construction materials, tools, equipment, or similar inventory preferred.
  • Previous experience with inventory management software or warehouse management systems preferred.
