Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (Plastics Molding)
Location: Rochester Hills, MI | Type: Contract-to-Hire | Compensation: Approximately $25.00+ per hour (based on proven work history)
Schedule: Permanent 3rd Shift, 11:00 pm – 7:00 am. Initial training occurs on 1st shift.
A night in the role
Your shift begins at 11:00 pm. You review the M4 maintenance system and map out your preventive maintenance listdaily, weekly, and monthly tasks that keep our presses and supporting equipment humming. With lockout/tagout in place, you dive into inspections, tighten what needs tightening, and document every step. If a machine acts up, you diagnose the issueoften electricaldecide on the fix, and line up parts or outside service as needed. You might hop on a forklift or overhead crane to safely move components, handle facility upkeep, or coordinate with the molding manager on priorities. Throughout the night, you keep the workspace clean, the team informed, and production protectedstopping the process if you spot nonconforming or suspect material.
What you’ll handle
- Execute and improve daily/weekly/monthly/annual preventive maintenance for presses and plant equipment
- Fabricate and repair parts and assemblies as needed
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and recommend equipment repairs, upgrades, and improvements
- Order replacement parts and coordinate with external service technicians
- Record all preventive and corrective maintenance activities in the M4 system
- Proactively reduce unscheduled downtime across production assets
- Support general building maintenance and upkeep
- Follow lock-out procedures and all safety policies; maintain a clean, safe work area
- Work under the direction of the molding manager or designee and support cross-training
- Exercise authority to halt production if nonconforming or suspect material is found
- Contribute to other related duties and projects as assigned
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–2 years of hands-on electrical troubleshooting experience
Skills & Tools
- Proven capability with basic machine and building maintenance
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for industrial equipment
- Ability to operate a forklift and an overhead crane
- Accurate recordkeeping and basic computer proficiency
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; collaborative team mindset
- Solid time managementable to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Professional demeanor and ethical conduct, including proper handling of confidential information
Physical & Work Environment
