  • Establish and document manufacturing methods, standard work, and detailed manufacturing instructions to ensure consistent, repeatable production.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, including routings, work instructions, and drawings with proper application of GD&T.
  • Support daily production activities by addressing manufacturing execution issues and resolving shop-floor concerns in a timely manner.
  • Lead and participate in root cause investigations for production and quality issues, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing performance, process capability, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate internal and external processing activities, including machining, heat treating, coatings, NDT, and final machining operations.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, and outside vendors to ensure robust processes and reliable supply.
  • Interpret engineering requirements and customer specifications and translate them into practical, manufacturable process plans.
  • Act as process owner for assigned products and operations, ensuring processes remain compliant with aerospace quality systems and customer requirements.
  • Balance immediate production support needs with longer-term process improvement projects and strategic manufacturing initiatives.
  • Support and influence manufacturing flow and sequencing to optimize throughput, efficiency, and resource utilization.

Essential Skills

  • Direct aerospace manufacturing processing experience, specifically with flight-critical components and precision gears.
  • Hands-on experience processing aerospace hardware from raw material through finished product.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing flow, sequencing, and shop-floor operations.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM tools, including Siemens NX and MasterCam.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, requirements, and customer specifications, including GD&T.
  • Experience supporting machining operations, heat treat, coatings, non-destructive testing (NDT), and final machining.
  • Comfort working directly on the manufacturing floor with significant shop-floor interaction.
  • Experience working with outside vendors and special process suppliers.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Project management skills to coordinate multiple activities and balance production support with process improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality systems such as AS9100 and NADCAP or similar standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive manufacturing process improvements and support continuous improvement efforts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on precision gears, drivetrain components, castings, forgings, and aerospace metals.
  • Background in advanced aerospace manufacturing processes, including machining, heat treating, coatings, and special processes.
  • Understanding of manufacturing documentation practices, including standard work, process instructions, and controlled process records.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, and Supply Chain.
  • Comfortable acting as a technical liaison with vendors and special process suppliers.
  • Interest in influencing manufacturing performance, quality, and delivery within long-term aerospace programs.
  • Motivation to contribute to complex engineering challenges in both commercial and defense aerospace applications.

Work Environment

This role is based on-site at an aerospace manufacturing facility with significant shop-floor interaction and direct involvement in daily production activities. The Manufacturing Process Engineer works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, and vendors in a highly collaborative environment. The facility provides exposure to advanced aerospace manufacturing processes, including machining, heat treating, coatings, special processes, and quality systems.
