LABOR MANAGER
Reports to: Operations Manager
Works with: Area Managers, Supers, Crew Leaders, Operators, Coordinator
THE ROLE
Sources, places, and develops the field labor force, and makes sure the right crew, trucks, and equipment are ready and safe for every project.
TRUCKS & EQUIPMENT
- Ensure maintenance is being done and logged; maintain the log.
- Monitor cleanliness inside / outside / boxes; direct drivers to clean as needed.
- Review tool inventory in the system and verify tools are in working order; swap out any that aren't.
- Ensure equipment is kept clean and in good working order, with regular maintenance performed by the operators.
LABOR
- Interview and find new labor employees; evaluate and place them.
- Train Crew Leaders (Crew Leaders train their people).
- Know each project's schedule and put the right crew on it.
- Schedule operators in coordination with the Coordinator for Smartsheet updates.
- Before a crew starts, be on site with the Super so the schedule and budget will be met.
- Uniforms make sure they have them and they're worn; replace non-presentable Shellco apparel so the team's presentation is up to standard.
- PPE / safety training ensure the team has the required PPE and training to carry out work safely.
SCHEDULES
- Update the Crew Schedule in Smartsheet info given to the Coordinator (When, Super, Where, Who, What, Notes, Time).
- If changes are made after 2 PM, YOU must call the crew with the update and have the Coordinator log it in Smartsheet.
SUBS
- Onboard new pieceworkers.
- Work with Supers to make sure they use in-house labor first.
- Know what subs are being used so they don't spread themselves thin.
- Review sub labor payments by Friday at noon.
SAFETY
- Safety is a priority training, educating, and enforcement are key.
