As a Key Account Manager supporting the WorkBoots.com Corporate Safety Program, you will be responsible for retaining and growing assigned business-to-business accounts through consultative program management, exceptional service, and expansion into uniform, safety footwear, workwear, and personal protective equipment solutions. This role is critical to our long-term growth strategy and will independently develop account plans, recommend solutions, and execute initiatives that improve customer adoption, satisfaction, retention, and revenue.
What You'll Do
Account Retention & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary strategic advisor for assigned Corporate Safety Program accounts, with responsibility for recommending and executing retention and growth strategies.
- Build, nurture, and expand relationships with executive sponsors and key stakeholders in safety, operations, procurement, human resources, and finance.
- Monitor program performance, employee participation, service levels, and customer satisfaction; identify risks and execute mitigation plans.
- Lead regular business reviews and ensure each program remains aligned with the customer’s safety requirements, workforce needs, and business goals.
Program Growth & Cross-Selling
- Assess customer workforce, safety, compliance, and purchasing needs and recommend solutions across uniforms, safety footwear, workwear, and personal protective equipment.
- Lead cross-selling and upselling strategies, including recommending program enhancements and negotiating pricing and terms within established guidelines.
- Identify opportunities to expand participation, locations, employee groups, product categories, and program services; build business cases to support growth initiatives.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Own the development and execution of strategic account plans that support customer goals and achieve retention, participation, revenue, and margin targets.
- Analyze order activity, product adoption, employee participation, service trends, and customer feedback to guide program decisions.
- Forecast, track, and report key account metrics, making proactive adjustments to improve program performance.
- Coordinate with internal teams to support program launches, product assortments, inventory availability, ordering solutions, employee communications, and ongoing service delivery.
Collaboration & Internal Alignment
- Serve as the primary advocate for the customer internally, using judgment to prioritize competing demands.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to influence product development, marketing campaigns, and service delivery improvements based on customer insights and account strategies.
- Lead internal strategic account reviews and present account health, retention risks, and growth strategies to senior leadership.
Leadership & Thought Partnership
- Act as a strategic thought partner to customers, providing insights into industry trends and best practices.
- Mentor and support other members of the sales or account management team on best practices in strategic selling and retention strategies.
- Participate in cross-functional leadership teams focused on improving customer experience and retention.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Sales, Marketing, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in strategic account management, enterprise sales, customer success, or managed program sales, with a focus on retention and account growth. Experience supporting uniform and/or safety footwear programs is strongly preferred; experience with workwear, PPE, wholesale, or employee purchase programs is also valuable.
- Proven track record of exercising discretion and judgment in managing large, complex accounts and driving revenue growth.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans independently.
- Strong negotiation, consultative selling, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical abilities.
