Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to support financial reporting, job costing, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.

This position is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in real estate, property management, construction, development, or project-based accounting environments. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project cost tracking, and assisting with financial analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Track and analyze project costs, budgets, and variances.
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities.
  • Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all financial records and reporting.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external auditors as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Generate financial reports and provide analysis to support business decisions.
  • Maintain and monitor work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and job costing data.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with job costing and project-based accounting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience tracking project costs, budgets, and financial variances.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Property accounting experience.
  • Experience with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting.
  • Construction or development accounting experience.
  • Experience working in multi-entity accounting environments.
  • Commercial or residential real estate accounting experience.
  • Experience with Yardi, JD Edwards, or similar ERP/accounting platforms.
  • Experience supporting external audits and financial reporting processes.
