The General Laborer supports a busy production line by loading materials in the correct sequence, monitoring equipment for proper operation, and performing basic operator care. This role focuses on maintaining material quality, documenting production and quality checks, and collaborating closely with team members in a physically demanding manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Load the correct materials onto the production line in the proper sequence to support continuous operations.
  • Verify that all materials meet required specifications before use.
  • Identify defective or nonconforming materials and take prompt action to fix or replace them.
  • Monitor production equipment regularly to ensure it operates safely and efficiently.
  • Perform visual inspections of materials and products to confirm quality standards.
  • Document quality checks and production data accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform operator care tasks, including basic cleaning and routine checks of equipment.
  • Handle materials and products safely, including loading, unloading, and moving items within the work area.
  • Operate production machinery and equipment as directed after appropriate training.
  • Use forklifts and other material-handling equipment when needed and once trained.
  • Support warehouse and material handling activities as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with other team members to coordinate work and resolve issues.
  • Learn and perform duties at multiple stations by participating in cross-training.
  • Carry out heavy lifting and other physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.
  • Arrive on time, follow established procedures, and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Essential Skills
  • Experience performing general labor tasks in a production, warehouse, or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to load, move, and handle materials safely and efficiently.
  • Capability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding work for extended periods.
  • Basic machine operation skills and willingness to learn new equipment.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections and identify proper materials and obvious defects.
  • Comfort with documenting production and quality checks accurately.
  • Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to train on forklift operation.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with other team members.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance and punctuality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in production, material handling, warehouse, or machine operation roles.
  • Familiarity with operator care practices, such as basic equipment cleaning and routine checks.
  • Ability to adapt to different stations and tasks through cross-training.
  • Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe work area.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production shop environment on a first shift schedule, typically 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with overtime opportunities on Fridays. The facility is non-climate controlled, generally not very cold in the winter but warming up during the summer months. Work is physically demanding, involving heavy lifting, extended periods on your feet, and regular interaction with production machinery, material-handling equipment such as forklifts, and warehouse operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colfax, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $20.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
