Position Title: Payroll Manager
Location: Sterling, VA preferred; additional locations in Warrenton and Winchester
Assignment Type: Permanent Hire
Compensation: $100,000 – $120,000 / Annually + discretionary bonus
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities
- Own and oversee the end-to-end payroll process
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule
- Review payroll prior to final processing and verify appropriate approvals
- Oversee earnings, deductions, taxes, overtime, bonuses, commissions, benefits, and other payroll-related transactions
- Manage payroll activity related to hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, and compensation changes
- Establish and maintain payroll calendars, procedures, checklists, and internal controls
- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts
- Coordinate payroll accruals, journal entries, payroll funding, and accounting requirements
- Support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit requests
- Partner with Human Resources on employee data, benefits, leave, onboarding, and offboarding
- Work closely with Operations to ensure accurate timekeeping, overtime, job information, and payroll inputs
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll, tax, timekeeping, HRIS, and related vendors
- Manage payroll vendor performance and resolve system or service issues
- Lead payroll system updates, integrations, implementations, and testing
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert for UKG payroll and timekeeping
- Maintain UKG configuration, workflows, earnings codes, deductions, and timekeeping rules
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, reporting, efficiency, and data accuracy
- Oversee payroll tax filings, payments, reconciliations, and year-end reporting
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirements
- Help hire, train, supervise, and develop payroll staff as the team grows
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive payroll experience required
- Significant experience overseeing complex payroll operations
- Hands-on UKG payroll and timekeeping experience required
- Union payroll experience required
