About The Company:
Addison Group is hiring for our client, an established Fort Worth law firm specializing in civil litigation. The firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to provide legal and administrative support to attorneys while helping manage an active caseload.
Job Description:
The Legal Assistant will assist attorneys with legal document preparation, court filings, calendaring, research, case organization, and general office support. The ideal candidate will have law firm experience and be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and format pleadings, briefs, agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Proofread and review materials for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Prepare court filings, discovery documents, exhibits, and redacted materials.
- Electronically file documents with state and federal courts.
- Organize and maintain case files through document management systems.
- Manage attorney calendars, including deadlines, depositions, conferences, meetings, and travel.
- Transcribe dictation and prepare routine correspondence.
- Handle administrative duties such as phone coverage, appointment scheduling, certified mail, and travel coordination.
- Conduct basic legal research and compile information for active cases.
- Maintain client databases and update case-related records.
- Track contracts, agreements, and associated deadlines.
- Provide additional administrative and litigation support as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of Legal Assistant experience in a law firm environment.
- Experience supporting civil litigation, defense, personal injury, or a related practice area.
- Familiarity with state and federal court filing procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with legal research, document management, or case management software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Criminal, family law, and estate law experience will not align with the requirements of this position.
- Corporate/in-house legal experience alone will not meet the requirements.
