Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to focus on the mechanical design and documentation for customer products and related tooling. The role involves developing designs that support both customer and internal manufacturing requirements.

• Develop basic drawings of components and assemblies.
• Perform engineering computations and write/edit specifications.
• Create modified designs for new or existing products and tooling.
• Verify completed work, checking dimensions, materials, and quantities per the verification plan.
• Interact with vendors to ensure proper fabrication of mechanical components for products, testers, and tooling.
• Create and maintain basic engineering drawings.
• Assist in the assembly of tooling, test fixtures, and prototypes.
• Perform drafting and design duties such as tolerance analysis, material selection, and selection of fabrication methods.
• Provide assistance to hardware, software, PCB design, functional test, and ICT test for product, test, and tooling development.
• Contact and work with hardware, software, and equipment vendors.
• Follow project plans and report project status to leadership.
• Assist in project proposals and associated cost estimates.
• Assist with DFX reviews and create necessary documentation.
• Develop an understanding of Design For Excellence philosophy and promote it with customers.
• Communicate with customer technical personnel regarding technical issues.
• Communicate technical challenges and work with leadership to create and implement solutions.
• Work with customers to understand requirements regarding mechanical design.
• Work with Sustaining Engineering to assist in the development of products leveraging internal manufacturing and test processes.
• Assist in the development of advanced/new technologies.
• Participate in research for new design methods and tools.
• Assist in the coordination of mechanical engineering strategies for customers.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities with documentation, including a follow-up review with the team in a presentation format.
• Perform complex drafting and design duties such as tolerance analysis, material selection, and selection of fabrication methods.

• Must have a 4-year Engineering or Technical Degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Physics.

The position involves working cross-functionally with a team of engineers, technicians, and designers. This role may be based out of Arden Hills, Winona, or Rochester.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of ROCHESTER, MN.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
