Empire Workforce Solutions is looking for a Dispatcher for our client in the city of Compton CA. Please call if you are interested in this position.

Position Summary:

Experienced Port Dispatcher responsible for coordinating daily personnel, freight, and terminal operations in a fast-paced port environment. The ideal candidate will have previous dispatch experience, strong computer skills, terminal knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse personnel, supervisors, and customers. Bilingual English/Spanish required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and dispatch employees, drivers, and/or equipment according to daily operational needs.
  • Monitor staffing, assignments, arrivals, departures, and changes throughout the shift.
  • Communicate with drivers, terminal personnel, warehouse teams, supervisors, and management.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch records, logs, schedules, and operational documentation.
  • Assist with coordinating cargo, containers, trailers, and freight movement.
  • Monitor work assignments and make adjustments as operational needs change.
  • Verify employee and driver information, assignments, and required documentation.
  • Communicate schedule changes, call-offs, delays, and operational issues promptly.
  • Assist with tracking shipments, containers, equipment, and personnel.
  • Maintain organized records and ensure information is entered accurately into computer systems.
  • Follow all port, terminal, security, safety, and company procedures.
  • Escalate operational issues or delays to the appropriate supervisor or management team.
  • Perform additional dispatch and logistics duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous dispatch experience is required.
  • Previous port/terminal experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of port and terminal operations is required.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions while managing changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Port/Terminal Experience
  • Must have knowledge of port/terminal operations and procedures.
  • Experience working with drivers, containers, cargo, terminals, warehouses, or transportation operations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with terminal processes, dispatch procedures, and coordinating personnel or equipment is highly preferred.
Computer Skills
  • Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency required.
  • Ability to enter and retrieve information accurately from computer systems.
  • Ability to maintain electronic records, schedules, logs, and reports.
  • Comfortable learning and using company-specific dispatch and terminal systems.

Pay Rate $22.00/hr

Schedule

Regular Schedule:

  • Sunday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Monday – Thursday: 5:00 PM – 1:30 AM

Training Schedule:

  • 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Training duration will depend on the trainee's progress and ability to successfully perform the required duties independently.
Physical & Work Environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced port/terminal environment.
  • May be required to work indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to remain attentive and responsive throughout the shift.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer use.
