Assistant Store Manager – Retail Job Description
We are looking for amotivated, dependable, and customer-focused Assistant Store Managerto join our retail team. The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the store, including employee supervision, customer service, sales, merchandising, inventory control, and cash-handling procedures.
The ideal candidate is a strong team player with previous retail experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead employees while maintaining a positive shopping experience for our customers. The Assistant Store Manager will also assume responsibility for store operations when the Store Manager is unavailable.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the Store Manager with daily store operations and overall store performance.
- Supervise, motivate, and provide guidance to store employees.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by providing excellent customer service.
- Handle customer questions, concerns, complaints, returns, and exchanges professionally.
- Assist with training new and existing employees on company policies, procedures, and customer service standards.
- Monitor employee performance and communicate any concerns to the Store Manager.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash register balancing and other required daily processes.
- Operate the cash register and ensure transactions are completed accurately.
- Assist with inventory control, receiving merchandise, restocking, and conducting stock checks.
- Ensure merchandise is properly displayed, priced, organized, and fully stocked.
- Help maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of the store.
- Monitor the sales floor and assist the team in meeting store sales and operational goals.
- Ensure employees follow company policies, safety procedures, and loss-prevention practices.
- Assist with employee scheduling and coverage as needed.
- Take responsibility for store operations in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager or management.
