Job Title: CNC OperatorJob Description

The CNC Operator will set up, operate, and maintain Haas CNC machinery to produce precision parts and components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a consistent focus on safety, accuracy, and product quality.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and monitor Haas CNC machines (2 axis, 3 axis, and 5 axis) to produce parts according to specifications and production schedules.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to determine machining operations and ensure correct setup and production.
  • Accurately read and use a tape measure and other standard measuring instruments to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet required tolerances.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy, identifying and reporting any defects, deviations, or nonconformities.
  • Operate a forklift to move raw materials, finished goods, and supplies safely throughout the facility.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including routine cleaning of machines, tools, and the surrounding workspace.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment and promptly report any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow all safety protocols, company policies, and OSHA guidelines at all times while working on the production floor.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to support production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations and overall facility efficiency.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 2+ recent years of experience operating CNC machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC machine setup and operation, including Haas 2 axis, 3 axis, and 5 axis equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure and other standard measuring instruments to verify part dimensions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand machining processes and equipment functionality.
  • Knowledge of work offsets and basic machining principles to ensure proper machine setup and part production.
  • Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on producing high-quality work and meeting tight tolerances.
  • Good problem-solving skills to identify and address issues in the machining and production process.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as part of daily production duties.
  • Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a production environment.
  • Schedule flexibility with the ability to work variable hours, including possible Saturdays as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using calipers and other precision measuring tools to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
  • Familiarity with G-code or basic CNC programming concepts.
  • Schedule flexibility with the ability to move to a 2nd shift in the future, providing adaptability as production expands.
  • FRAMECAD experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Valid forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, start-up manufacturing setting with an all-hands-on-deck mindset.
  • Interest in contributing to a vertically integrated production model that includes land acquisition, home manufacturing, installation, and direct sales.

Work Environment

The role is based in a start-up manufacturing environment that values a high level of ownership and an all-hands-on-deck approach. You will work in a non-climate-controlled production facility where operations move quickly and priorities can shift as the company scales. Work may involve standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, operating CNC machinery and forklifts, and adapting to evolving shifts, including potential future 2nd shift work and occasional Saturdays. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
