Job Description:\n\nCloud Software Engineer – Level 3\nWyetech is seeking an experienced Cloud Software Engineer – Level 3 to support the Data Warehouse Platforms Engineering Shared Services & Software Development (DWSV) team within a large, complex product development environment.\nThis position supports all aspects of Agile software design and development for products deployed across large-scale compute clusters. The selected candidate will play a key role in designing and building new capabilities, conducting testing, optimizing system performance, and supporting ongoing operations and sustainment.\nThe ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in Java development, distributed systems, cloud technologies, and software integration, with the ability to work independently across the full software development lifecycle while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.Key Responsibilities\nSoftware Engineering & Development\n\n \n Design, develop, integrate, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software applications supporting large-scale distributed systems.\n \n Perform requirements analysis, software design, development, installation, integration, evaluation, testing, validation, and issue diagnosis and resolution.\n \n Design and implement scalable solutions, including the integration and extension of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS), Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS), and open-source software products.\n \n Develop and maintain applications using Java and other high-level programming languages.\n \n Troubleshoot complex technical issues while optimizing system performance, reliability, and scalability.\n \n Develop software solutions supporting highly distributed, massively parallel computing environments.\n \n Design and develop object-oriented software systems and applications.\n \n Develop and integrate RESTful services and APIs to support distributed applications.\n\nCloud & Distributed Systems Engineering\n\n \n Support software development and deployment across large-scale compute clusters and cloud environments.\n \n Work with distributed data processing technologies such as Apache Hadoop, HDFS, HBase, Accumulo, Hive, Pig, and MapReduce.\n \n Support the development and integration of cloud-native applications and microservices architectures.\n \n Develop and maintain containerized applications using Docker and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.\n \n Support infrastructure automation and configuration management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies.\n \n Integrate applications with distributed databases, messaging systems, and data processing platforms.\n \n Evaluate and improve application performance, availability, and scalability across distributed environments.\n\nIntegration, Testing & DevSecOps\n\n \n Develop and execute software test cases, test plans, and automated test scripts.\n \n Perform software integration, system testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.\n \n Support Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, including automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.\n \n Apply modern source control practices and Agile software development methodologies.\n \n Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve integration issues.\n \n Support software sustainment, enhancements, and operational maintenance.\n \n Apply security and compliance best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.\n\nTechnical Leadership & Documentation\n\n \n Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior software engineers.\n \n Contribute to project planning by defining tasks, timelines, technical approaches, and implementation strategies.\n \n Review system designs for accuracy, completeness, performance, and scalability.\n \n Develop and maintain technical documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), system specifications, and software development artifacts.\n \n Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful delivery of mission-critical software capabilities.\n \n Support operational readiness and participate in issue resolution during high-priority mission situations.\nRequired Qualifications\n\n \n Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.\n \n Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in software development and engineering, including requirements analysis, software design, development, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and sustainment.\n \n Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, such as Mathematics, Information Systems, or Engineering.\n \n At least six (6) years of experience developing software using high-level programming languages, such as Java, C, or C++.\n \n At least five (5) years of experience working with UNIX/Linux environments, including Red Hat-based systems.\n \n At least three (3) years of experience in software integration and testing, including developing and implementing test plans and test scripts.\n \n Strong Java development experience, including distributed systems, networking, and multithreading.\n \n Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet.\n \n Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.\n \n Experience working in Agile software development environments using modern source control practices.\n \n Strong Linux fundamentals and proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as Python, Bash, Ruby, or Perl.\n \n Familiarity with microservices architecture and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.\n \n Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.\n \n Demonstrated experience developing software for distributed computing environments.\n \n Experience working with open-source NoSQL technologies supporting distributed data processing, such as HBase, Accumulo, or Bigtable.\n \n Familiarity with Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Pig, and HDFS technologies.\n \n Experience developing RESTful services and working with serialization formats such as JSON or BSON.\n \n Experience analyzing requirements and designing object-oriented software systems.\n \n Demonstrated technical writing skills and experience preparing software engineering documentation.\n \n Hadoop Developer, Cloud Developer, or comparable Cloud System/Service certification is required.\n \n Willingness to participate in a rotating Tier III on-call schedule.\n \n Ability to support surge requirements during high-priority mission situations.\n \n Ability to work primarily onsite at the customer location, with limited and situational telework availability.\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n \n Experience with Apache Hadoop, Accumulo, and Apache NiFi.\n \n Familiarity with MongoDB and messaging systems such as ActiveMQ.\n \n Experience with Spring Framework, Python, and Bash scripting.\n \n Knowledge of security and compliance best practices.\n \n Experience with AWS, hybrid cloud environments, and related cloud technologies.\n \n Experience developing and deploying applications in cloud environments.\n \n Experience designing and developing automated analytic software, techniques, and algorithms.\n \n Experience developing data-driven analytics, event-driven analytics, and rule-based analytic processing.\n \n Understanding of Big Data cloud scalability and distributed computing architectures.\n \n Experience developing applications that process large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.\n \n Experience documenting data models, schemas, formats, APIs, and other technical specifications.\n \n Experience integrating and extending Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) and COTS technologies.\n \n Experience developing software within heterogeneous data environments.\n \n Experience supporting complex enterprise software development projects and large-scale compute clusters.\n\nRelevant Cloud Certifications
