Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support a short-term Contract assignment in Cookeville, Tennessee. This opportunity is ideal for an accounting candidate with strong bookkeeping experience who can provide oversight during an inventory validation process and ensure records are accurate and properly supported. The assignment begins immediately and is expected to last for two weeks.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise the client’s inventory count activities to help ensure procedures are followed accurately and consistently.
• Review inventory documentation and compare count results with supporting records to confirm reliability and completeness.
• Prepare and post journal entries as needed to reflect inventory-related adjustments and other accounting updates.
• Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts to identify discrepancies and support accurate financial reporting.
• Examine balance sheet activity and perform account analyses to resolve variances in a timely manner.
• Assist with sales tax and corporate tax support tasks by organizing financial information and maintaining accurate records.
• Document findings, communicate exceptions, and provide clear updates to stakeholders throughout the engagement.• At least 5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in a hands-on financial environment.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee inventory verification activities and validate supporting financial records.
• Strong knowledge of journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet account reconciliation.
• Experience preparing or supporting sales tax and corporate tax-related accounting activities.
• Ability to investigate discrepancies, analyze account balances, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Proficiency in bookkeeping practices and core accounting processes within a fast-paced setting.
• Availability to start immediately and commit to the full two-week Contract assignment.
