Construction Project Engineer – ATI Group

ATI Group is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Project Engineer to support ATI Group construction projects from pre-construction through project completion. Reporting to the Construction Project Manager, the Project Engineer will manage project documentation, coordinate with subcontractors and design teams, and support the project superintendent in the field. This is a hands-on role with a clear path toward project management.

Key Responsibilities:

Communication

  • Support the Project Manager in communicating with project stakeholders (owners, developers, architects, engineers, subcontractors)
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, minutes, and action items for owner and subcontractor meetings

Budget

  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, subcontractor bid solicitation, and bid leveling
  • Track committed and actual costs against the project budget and flag variances to the PM

Contracting

  • Help draft subcontractor scopes of work and assemble subcontract packages for PM review
  • Track potential change items and prepare change order requests with supporting backup

Accounting

  • Review subcontractor/vendor invoices against contract values and work in place, and assist with monthly pay applications
  • Collect lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and other required subcontractor documentation

Subcontractor Coordination

  • Serve as a day-to-day contact for subcontractors on submittals, documentation, and open items
  • Coordinate material procurement, deliveries, and long-lead items

Schedule

  • Assist the PM in developing and updating the project schedule weekly
  • Track submittal and procurement lead times against project milestones

Quality

  • Manage the submittal process: log, review for spec compliance, route to the design team, and distribute approved submittals
  • Draft, log, and track RFIs through resolution
  • Maintain current drawing and specification sets and distribute revisions
  • Walk the site with the superintendent, document progress, and track punch list items

Regulatory

  • Track permits and help coordinate inspections with the superintendent
  • Develop a working knowledge of applicable codes and regulatory requirements

Safety

  • Understand OSHA safety requirements and support the superintendent in enforcing safety on site
  • Collect and file subcontractor safety plans

Project Closeout

  • Compile closeout documentation (O&M manuals, warranties, as-builts, attic stock)
  • Assist with punch list completion and the warranty process

Educational and/or Experience Requirements

  • 4-year degree in construction engineering, construction management, civil engineering, or related field, or equal relevant experience
  • 0–2 years of commercial construction experience (internships and co-ops count)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between job sites

Preferred

  • Experience with project management software (Procore)
  • Experience with Bluebeam and/or scheduling software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Passionate about process improvement and open to new ideas (AI, new technology, etc.)
  • Interest in growing into a Project Manager role
