Job Description
Shift Supervisor

Every beam, rebar cage, and structural component leaving our floor shapes skylines and infrastructure. As Shift Supervisor you own the production window that turns raw steel into on-time, defect-free product. Your leadership directly determines whether we hit customer delivery dates, protect our people, and keep the plant running at peak throughput.

Performance Objectives
  • Deliver 95%+ on-time, in-full output of fabricated steel components each shift by coordinating workflow, staffing, and material flow.
  • Drive first-pass quality above 98% through real-time inspection, root-cause coaching, and immediate process corrections.
  • Achieve zero lost-time incidents per quarter by enforcing lockout/tagout, PPE, and crane/rigging protocols while modeling safe behavior.
  • Cut unplanned downtime 15% within 90 days via daily equipment checks, operator-led maintenance, and rapid escalation of issues.
  • Develop 8–12 operators per shift into fully cross-trained fabricators capable of meeting AWS and project-spec standards.
  • Close every shift with accurate production, scrap, and labor reports that enable next-shift continuity and weekly KPI reviews.
Environment & Resources

You report to the Plant Manager and lead a mixed crew of welders, fitters, and material handlers on a rotating shift in a high-volume fabrication shop. You have full authority over shift staffing, overtime, and work sequencing, plus access to ERP scheduling, CNC cutting data, overhead cranes, and a dedicated maintenance technician. Safety and quality teams provide daily support; capital improvements follow a documented request process.

Essential Qualifications
  • 5+ years supervising production crews in steel fabrication, structural welding, or heavy manufacturing.
  • Proven record of hitting daily output and quality targets while reducing safety incidents.
  • Hands-on knowledge of AWS D1.1, mill certificates, and rebar/structural detailing.
  • Ability to read shop drawings, run basic production reports, and coach operators on equipment and process.
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent plus demonstrated lockout/tagout and crane-safety leadership.
Role Selling Points
  • Direct line of sight from your shift’s output to major commercial and infrastructure projects.
  • Growing operation with capital investment in new equipment and process upgrades.
  • Clear path to Superintendent or Plant leadership for proven performers.
  • Stable, full-time role with overtime opportunities in a demand-driven industry.
