Registered Dental Assistant Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced, dependable Registered Dental Assistant to join our Riverside dental team. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Strong chairside assisting, digital X-rays, sterilization, patient flow, clinical documentation, and general dentistry experience are required. Implant, oral surgery, and full-arch/AOX experience is highly preferred.

The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, works well in a fast-paced environment, and can anticipate the needs of the doctor and clinical team.

Requirements:

Registered Dental Assistant Qualifications

  • Current California Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license.
  • Current certifications/permits required for the duties performed.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification as required.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, instruments, and materials.
  • Knowledge of infection-control and sterilization requirements.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented dental environment.

Registered Dental Assistant Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide chairside assistance to dentists during examinations and dental procedures.
  • Prepare patients, treatment rooms, instruments, materials, and equipment for procedures.
  • Take diagnostic dental radiographs in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Perform RDA duties permitted by California law and within the employee's current licenses, permits, certifications, training, and scope of practice.
  • Assist with restorative procedures, crown and bridge, endodontics, oral surgery, implants, and other dental procedures.
  • Assist with implant and full-arch/AOX procedures when appropriately trained.
  • Obtain and document patient information and ensure medical histories are reviewed according to office protocol.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely clinical documentation.
  • Document treatment, materials, anesthetics, prescriptions, and other required clinical information as directed by the treating provider and within permitted duties.
  • Provide patient education and post-operative instructions as directed by the dentist.
  • Maintain proper sterilization, disinfection, infection-control, and OSHA protocols.
  • Properly process, package, sterilize, and store instruments.
  • Turn over treatment rooms efficiently while maintaining required infection-control standards.
  • Review the daily schedule and prepare in advance for scheduled procedures.
  • Ensure necessary instruments, materials, implant components, and lab cases are available before treatment begins.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical inventory and communicate supply needs before shortages occur.
  • Properly track and manage lab cases.
  • Support efficient patient flow and communicate delays or clinical concerns promptly.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness and follow established safety protocols.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Participate in morning huddles, team meetings, training, and continuing education as required.
  • Work collaboratively with doctors, hygienists, assistants, front-office team members, and management.
  • Perform other duties within the RDA's permitted scope as assigned.

Registered Dental Assistant Experience

  • 2+ years of dental assisting/RDA experience.
  • Experience with digital radiography and dental practice-management systems.
  • Strong restorative, crown and bridge, endodontic, and oral surgery experience.
  • Implant and surgical assisting experience.
  • AOX/full-arch implant experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a high-volume multi-provider dental practice.
