Position Summary
Crucial Link is hiring for a custom rubber molder in Middlefield, Ohio who manufactures polymer products, including extruded preforms, for mining, material handling, transportation, marine, natural gas, road and bridge, and highway safety.
This is an entry-level production job. You will start as a helper supporting prep, painting, and machine support at $17.00 per hour.
After training and demonstrated ability to follow procedures, you will move into extruder operator work. Pay increases to $19.00per hourwhen you are qualified as an operator. Plant work includes heat from equipment, standing, lifting, and required personalprotective equipment.
Starting Responsibilities Helper / Prep / Painting ($17.00/hour)
  • Assist extruder operators with daily production.
  • Prepare materials, totes, tools, and the work area before startup.
  • Perform prep work on metal and other substrates as directed.
  • Paint or finish parts according to instructions and quality standards.
  • Stage totes of material at the machine.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Move materials, finished parts, and scrap as assigned.
  • Learn machine layout, safety rules, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Report quality issues, equipment problems, or safety concerns immediately.
Operator Responsibilities After Advancement ($19.00/hour)
  • Setup and startup must follow the written SOP to the letter. Do not skip steps or change the process on your own.
  • Set up and start the extruder exactly as the SOP requires.
  • Heat the machine to the required temperature before running.
  • Place the tote of material correctly for processing.
  • Turn the machine on only after setup checks are complete.
  • Run the extruder to produce parts or preforms that meet specifications.
  • Monitor temperature, material feed, and output during the run.
  • Make only the adjustments allowed by the SOP. Get approval for anything outside it.
  • Inspect product and separate good parts from scrap.
  • Shut down, clean, and secure the machine at the end of the shift or job.
  • Complete required production and quality records.
Requirements and Work environment
  • Ability to follow written and verbal SOPs exactly.
  • Willingness to learn extrusion, prep, and finishing work.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned shifts.
  • Ability to stand, lift, and handle materials in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic reading and math skills for work instructions and records.
  • Prior manufacturing experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and move materials throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials within established job requirements, using assistance or lifting equipment when needed.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with heat, noise, and rubber odors.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Advancement
Move to operator depends on completed training, attendance, safe work, and running the machine by the SOP. Pay moves to
$19.00 per hour when you are released to operate on your own.
