Clinical Director – Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD)

Schedule: Typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, primarily onsite with flexibility based on operational needs
Compensation: Starting at $80,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience
Position Overview
Avento Health is recruiting an experienced Clinical Director to provide clinical leadership and oversight for services supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Springfield, Illinois.
The Clinical Director will oversee person-centered clinical services, individualized treatment and support planning, supervision of QIDPs, interdisciplinary collaboration, staff development, behavioral and psychiatric coordination, and clinical compliance. This role requires strong clinical judgment, organization, leadership, and the ability to guide teams through complex behavioral, psychiatric, and developmental needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community-based residential settings.
- Conduct and oversee individualized clinical assessments and ensure required documentation is completed within established timelines.
- Develop, review, and monitor stabilization programs, transition plans, closing summaries, implementation strategies, behavior support programs, and related clinical documentation.
- Evaluate clinical interventions and recommend modifications based on progress, behavioral needs, and treatment outcomes.
- Supervise, mentor, and support QIDPs and review assessments, service plans, progress notes, and other clinical documentation.
- Train and coach direct support staff on behavioral interventions, individualized support techniques, abuse and neglect prevention, and other clinically relevant topics.
- Provide guidance for behavioral and psychiatric challenges and collaborate with behavior analysts, nursing staff, psychiatric providers, and other clinical professionals.
- Support crisis prevention, clinical crisis response, care transitions, and coordination with families, guardians, service coordinators, and support teams.
- Monitor quality, accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of clinical documentation and participate in audits, quality assurance reviews, and improvement initiatives.
- Support compliance with applicable Illinois DHS/DDD requirements, Medicaid Waiver requirements, individual-rights standards, and person-centered service expectations.
- Participate in interdisciplinary service planning, clinical case reviews, treatment-related meetings, and visits to community-based residential locations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in a Human Services field such as Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Behavioral Health, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of three years of directly related professional experience.
- Experience conducting clinical assessments, developing individualized treatment or stabilization plans, and overseeing behavioral interventions.
- Experience providing clinical supervision, staff development, or interdisciplinary team leadership.
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, treatment-planning, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.
- Ability to travel between residential locations in the Springfield area.
- Willingness to participate in clinical crisis response when necessary and complete required training, certifications, and annual continuing education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Experience in Community Integrated Living Arrangements, developmental centers, or similar developmental disability service settings.
- Familiarity with Illinois DHS/DDD regulations, Medicaid Waiver requirements, and person-centered service delivery.
- QIDP qualifications or prior QIDP experience; training may be provided.
