About HUB Veterinary Group

At HUB Veterinary Group, we believe every pet deserves access to quality veterinary care, regardless of their family's financial circumstances. We are a privately owned veterinary practice committed to providing affordable, compassionate care to our community and helping bridge the gap between general practice and specialty medicine.

Our team works together to provide urgent care, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical services while treating every patient and client like family. We are looking for a dependable, motivated Veterinary Assistant who shares our mission and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Position Overview

The Veterinary Assistant plays an important hands-on role in supporting our veterinarians and veterinary technicians while ensuring patients receive safe, compassionate, and efficient care.

This is an active, floor-based position that requires someone who is comfortable handling animals, assisting with treatments, maintaining a clean and organized hospital, and helping the team manage a busy caseload. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, communicates well, and understands that every team member contributes to the overall success of the hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures.
  • Safely restrain and handle dogs and cats of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions.
  • Obtain and record patient weights, temperatures, and other basic vital signs as directed.
  • Prepare examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment for patient care.
  • Assist with sample collection, laboratory preparation, and in-house diagnostic testing as trained and authorized.
  • Support surgical procedures by preparing patients, equipment, and surgical areas as directed.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly communicate changes in their condition to the medical team.
  • Help admit and discharge patients and communicate professionally with clients.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary examination rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and equipment.
  • Assist with laundry, dishes, restocking, inventory organization, and general hospital upkeep.
  • Follow hospital protocols for infection control, patient safety, medication handling, and proper documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with the entire team to maintain efficient patient flow and minimize unnecessary delays.
  • Take initiative to identify what needs to be done rather than waiting to be assigned every task.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support daily hospital operations.
Qualifications
  • Previous veterinary assistant, animal hospital, shelter, or hands-on animal care experience preferred.
  • Comfortable handling dogs and cats, including anxious, fearful, or medically compromised patients.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy, sometimes unpredictable environment.
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and fellow assistants.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, accept feedback, and follow established medical protocols.
  • Ability to recognize when a patient requires immediate attention and alert the medical team.
  • Comfortable with the physical demands of the position, including standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and safely assisting with animal restraint.
  • Commitment to compassionate patient care, excellent client service, and maintaining a clean and safe hospital.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is hardworking, adaptable, and genuinely invested in animal welfare. The right person understands that working in veterinary medicine involves more than assisting with appointments. It means helping wherever needed, keeping the hospital running smoothly, supporting teammates during busy periods, and treating every patient with patience and compassion.

We value team members who take ownership of their responsibilities, communicate openly, show up ready to work, and want to grow their skills in a supportive environment.

What We Offer
  • Competitive hourly compensation based on experience and skill level.
  • The opportunity to gain hands-on experience in urgent care, diagnostics, and surgical support.
  • A collaborative, privately owned veterinary practice with a community-focused mission.
  • Opportunities to learn new skills and grow professionally.
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and the families who love them.

If you're passionate about animal care, enjoy working as part of a close-knit team, and want to be part of a practice that makes veterinary care more accessible, we'd love to hear from you!
