Electrical Engineer | 5-days onsite in Chantilly, VA | Pay: 100k - 120k/yr | 12-month contract-to-hire

Job Description

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and develop advanced embedded electronic systems for next-generation products. This role will own hardware development from schematic capture through PCB layout, bring-up, integration, testing, and production support while collaborating closely with firmware, mechanical, and systems engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design mixed-signal, digital, analog, and power electronics for embedded systems.
  • Develop PCB schematics and layouts using Altium Designer.
  • Support board bring-up, debugging, validation, and environmental testing.
  • Integrate processors, microcontrollers, wireless communications, sensors, and power architectures.
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers on STM32 and embedded Linux platforms.
  • Design and troubleshoot high-speed interfaces including USB, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE).
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers using Altium CoDesigner and SolidWorks to optimize electromechanical integration.
  • Conduct EMC/EMI analysis, troubleshooting, and design improvements.
  • Support prototype builds, manufacturing transitions, and design-for-manufacturing initiatives.
  • Evaluate and implement new engineering tools, automation technologies, and AI-assisted development workflows.

Essential Skills

  • 1+ years experience in electrical engineering, PCB design, digital, and analog electronics with 6-8 layer designs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Familiarity with Altium Designer for PCB development.
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces such as USB, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, and PoE.
  • Comfortable in a client-facing role.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering is preferred, and internships can count as experience.
  • Experience working with embedded systems, particularly STM32 and embedded Linux platforms.
  • Interest in building products from the ground up and influencing product architecture and customer success.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
