We are looking for an experiencedAccounting Manager to oversee accounting for a multi-company construction operation. This is a hands-on position with responsibility for overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, project accounting, WIP, cash flow, certified payroll, and compliance. The right person will have demonstrated construction accounting experience and be comfortable working closely with project managers and company leadership. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the accounting function, spot issues, and work directly with the team to get them resolved.
ResponsibilitiesOversee day-to-day accounting for multiple companies, including AP, AR, general ledger, cash management, and month-end close
Prepare and maintain WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion calculations
Review job costs, project margins, change orders, committed costs, and estimated costs to complete
Work with project managers to make sure job costs and project financials are accurate and up to date
Manage construction billing, including progress billings, retention, and collections
Monitor cash flow across the companies and maintain cash flow forecasts
Track receivables, upcoming payables, payroll, and project expenses to help management plan for cash needs
Review project cash flow and identify potential billing or collection issues before they become problems
Oversee certified payroll and ensure compliance with prevailing wage and public works requirements
Work with payroll and project teams to resolve issues with hours, classifications, wage rates, and certified payroll reporting
Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports for multiple entities
Support year-end audits, tax filings, insurance audits, and other financial reporting
Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience within the construction or project-based industry with at least 1-2 years experience managing employees strongly preferred.
