Pay/Salary Range: $105,000 to $130,000 annually
Work Schedule: M – F Reg business hours

We are actively seeking a Safety Field Engineer to join a heavy civil construction company serving the water and wastewater sector. If you can earn a crew’s trust, spot a hazard, and work through a field plan with a superintendent, this role puts both sides of your experience to work. You will combine hands-on safety leadership with takeoffs, RFIs, submittals, and production-cost tracking, notworkin a safety-only position. What You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Translate upcoming activities into workable field plans, partnering with superintendents to align schedules, crews, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Stay actively engaged on the jobsite through daily health and safety coordination and inspections that surface concerns early.
  • Lead required safety and health programs, correct unsafe practices, and stop affected work until hazardous conditions are resolved.
  • Prepare and manage RFIs and submittals so technical questions and required reviews move forward efficiently.
  • Complete quantity takeoffs for assigned estimate scopes, giving the team reliable inputs for planning and pricing.
  • Track production quantities, operating costs, and material costs to keep field performance visible.
  • Maintain clear inspection records and track corrective actions through resolution.
  • Lead focused safety discussions and deliver monthly reports that help the team understand priorities and act on findings.
To Be Successful in This Role, You'll Bring:
  • Required: 5+ years of construction experience and 3+ years of safety experience, with exposure to heavy civil work.
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in civil engineering, construction management, occupational safety and health, or a related discipline; relevant experience, training, or an equivalent combination is also accepted.
  • Required: OSHA 30. A CHST or another safety certification is preferred.
  • Working capability with Microsoft Office Suite and HCSS Safety, both required tools for this role.
  • Clear communication and a collaborative, hands-on approach to both safety and field engineering, including work plans, takeoffs, RFIs, submittals, and cost tracking.
  • Ability to work onsite full time and a driver’s license in good standing.
  • Preferred: experience supporting constructionatwater or wastewater facilities.
  • Additional strengths: exposure to electrical and mechanical systems, excavation, piping, deep shoring, and micro-tunneling.
