Controller

We are looking for a Controller to support healthcare finance operations in the greater Hartford area. This is a Contract position focused on maintaining accurate financial records, producing timely reporting, and strengthening the month-end close process. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability and hands-on experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the monthly close cycle by coordinating deadlines, reviewing balances, and ensuring financial data is finalized on schedule.

• Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation to maintain accurate general ledger activity.

• Perform detailed account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding issues promptly.

• Produce recurring and ad hoc financial reports that support operational and leadership decision-making.

• Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and provide clear explanations to stakeholders.

• Maintain accuracy and consistency across financial records while supporting compliance with healthcare accounting standards.

• Partner with internal teams to gather information needed for reporting, close activities, and financial review processes.

• Experience serving in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role, preferably within healthcare.
• Strong working knowledge of month-end close procedures and general ledger accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries and complete account reconciliations accurately.
• Experience developing financial reports and delivering meaningful financial analysis.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet-based analysis tools.
