ISCC is one of New England's premier skating facilities, home to an NHL-size sheet, an Olympic-size sheet, two training rinks, and a Fitness and Sports Performance Center(s).
The Rink Operations Director is a leadership position which oversees ice quality, facility maintenance, safety, and daily operations. This role is also responsible for delivering a great customer experience and for hiring, training, and leading the operations crew. This is a full-time, year-round position. It requires regular availability during business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.References required.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee ice maintenance across four sheets, including resurfacing schedules, edging, painting, and ice-quality standards
- Manage refrigeration, dehumidification, HVAC, and other building systems, working with outside vendors on service and repairs
- Hire, train, schedule, and lead the rink operations staff
- Keep the facility clean, safe, and event-ready, including locker rooms, public areas, and the Fitness and Sports Performance Centers
- Coordinate setup and changeovers for games, tournaments, and special events
- Maintain safety programs, equipment logs, and regulatory compliance
- Manage the operations budget, supplies, and preventive maintenance plans
- Be a visible, positive presence in the building and a reliable partner to our programs, tenants, and users
Qualifications
- 5+ years of ice arena operations or management experience, including at least 2 years supervising staff
- Strong knowledge of ice-making, refrigeration, and building systems
- Ice resurfacer operation and maintenance experience, specifically Olympia
- USIRA Certification (CIT, CIRM, CRA) preferred
- Self-starter who can diagnose problems and solve them with minimal supervision
- Clear communicator who leads with patience and accountability
- Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid driver's license.
