HR Generalist (Multi-Site)

Pay: Based on experience and qualifications

Schedule: Full-time, on-site, with 30-40% of your time in the field at assigned plants

Location: Fishers, IN 46037

Own the full generalist cycle for the plants you support, from employee relations to DOT compliance, with 30-40% of your time in the field.

Irving Materials, Inc. (IMI) is a ready-mix concrete producer with operations in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee. As HR Generalist, you support employees through every phase of their career and work directly with plant leaders on employee relations, coaching, performance management, and investigations. You are based in Fishers and spend 30-40% of your time at your assigned plants. You also serve as backup to the HR Manager.

What You'll Do

Employee and Plant Support

  • Provide HR support and expertise to your assigned plants and their employees, spending 30-40% of your time in the field
  • Advise leaders on how company policies and procedures apply, and on the documentation each situation calls for
  • Partner with leaders on employee relations, coaching, performance management, and investigations
  • Administer Ohio unemployment claims

Talent Acquisition and Onboarding

  • Recruit for open roles, including at local job fairs and CDL schools
  • Work with management on workforce planning
  • Support the hiring process, including offer letters
  • Conduct exit interviews

Compliance and Records

  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee records, including Department of Transportation (DOT) Driver Qualification files
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, including DOT regulations
  • Serve as backup to the HR Manager in their absence
  • Support the HR Managers on special projects such as benefits open enrollment and employee training

Required:

  • 5+ years of HR experience
  • Experience handling employee relations and investigations
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII)
  • Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Able to work on-site in Fishers and travel to assigned plants 30-40% of the time
  • Proficient in HRIS software, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and group facilitation skills, with the ability to influence without formal authority
  • Organized and able to work independently, with reliable follow-through

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting a DOT-regulated workforce or maintaining Driver Qualification files
  • Multi-site HR experience, or HR experience in manufacturing, construction, transportation, or distribution
  • Recruiting experience, including job fairs
  • Experience administering unemployment claims
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar)
