Duration: 12 month contract with possible/likely extension

Job Description:

The Signage Specialist reports to the Manager of Capital Signage and provides administrative and technical support to the Wayfinding & Signage program. The role focuses on distributing Sound Transit’s five county vision throughout passenger-facing projects and maintaining the quality and consistency of signage across the agency.

This position acts as an internal consultant to support projects through all phases, including planning, implementation, and maintenance. Responsibilities include administrative functions such as project, contract, and budget management, as well as reviewing processes and products. The Signage Specialist supports existing sites, documents completed field work, enters data into FileMaker, recreates message schedules, creates work requests, enters data into systems used by office teams and the Signage Department, and coordinates timely responses to customer requests.

The role works closely with project managers, owners, and consultants to finalize production-ready artwork, oversee and coordinate sign manufacturing, and resolve challenges that arise during implementation. Additional responsibilities include responding to inquiries about procedures and standards, reviewing signage contractor work, and providing support as directed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and technical support to the Wayfinding & Signage Program.
  • Support project planning, implementation, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with management of projects, contracts, and budgets.
  • Review processes and products to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Support and document field activities, surveys, and site reviews.
  • Enter and maintain data in FileMaker and other agency systems.
  • Recreate message schedules and generate work requests.
  • Coordinate responses to customer requests and stakeholder inquiries.
  • Collaborate with project managers, consultants, and contractors.
  • Finalize production-ready artwork for signage projects.
  • Oversee sign manufacturing and installation coordination.
  • Address and resolve implementation challenges.
  • Respond to questions regarding signage standards and procedures.
  • Review signage contractor work and provide ongoing program support.

Must Haves:

  • Strong experience within the signage industry.
    • Experience with signage documentation and production methods.
    • Knowledge of custom signage and code-required signage requirements.
  • Project management and contract administration experience.
    • Ability to review site conditions and work completed in the field.
    • Strong data entry, administration, and documentation skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, SharePoint, and related applications.
    • Ability to prepare spreadsheets, reports, correspondence, technical documents, and construction documentation.
  • Experience supporting project management and contract/vendor administration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization, record-keeping, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to produce presentations, PowerPoints, and reports.
  • Experience conducting research and preparing recommendations.
  • Ability to manage vendors and partner agencies effectively.
