Local Uniform Company is seeking an experienced, independent Lead Embroidery Machine Operator & Shop Manager to run our in-house apparel customization department. You will have full ownership of our production workflow, operating and maintaining two 6-head Tajima commercial embroidery machines (12 heads total).

The ideal candidate is a fast-paced professional who can efficiently stage and hoop high-volume uniform orders while keeping both machines spinning at maximum capacity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Operation: Independently set up, thread, hoop, and run two 6-head Tajima commercial machines simultaneously.
  • Workflow Management: Schedule and execute daily production to meet strict turnaround times for corporate, industrial, and medical uniform clients.
  • Technical Prep & QC: Select proper backings, stabilizers, and tensions for diverse fabrics (including heavy canvas, performance polos, and caps). Conduct strict quality control checks to eliminate alignment or stitching errors.
  • Machine Maintenance: Perform daily oiling, hook cleaning, needle changes, and minor mechanical troubleshooting specific to Tajima equipment to eliminate downtime.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor and track shop supplies including threads, backings, needles, and apparel staging bins.

Qualifications

  • Experience:3–5 years of hands-on experience operating multi-head commercial embroidery machines (Tajima experience highly preferred).
  • Speed & Efficiency: Exceptional physical hooping speed and the ability to stage the next job while machines are actively stitching.
  • Independence: Strong technical problem-solving skills; ability to fix thread breaks, tension issues, and bird-nesting without direct supervision.
  • Reliability: Dependable transportation to our facility in New Orleans.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Rate:$21.00 – $26.00 per hour (Based on experience)
  • Paid Time Off: Paid holidays after 90 days, plus earned paid vacation time after 1 year of continuous employment.
  • Schedule: Standard daytime production hours., no weekends or holidays.
