Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical
Job Summary
Provides comprehensive nursing care to adult medical and surgical inpatients using the nursing process. Administers medications and treatments, monitors patient status and coordinates care with the interdisciplinary team. Delegates to support staff and educates patients and families.
Education & Experience
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing: Required
• Medical surgical or acute care nursing experience: Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
• Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice: Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
Key Responsibilities
• Perform admission, shift and ongoing assessments for assigned patients.
• Administer medications, IV therapy and treatments per physician orders.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including wound care and drain management.
• Monitor for changes in condition and escalate to the provider promptly.
• Delegate to and supervise nursing assistants and support staff.
• Provide patient and family education and participate in discharge planning.
