Hours: M-F, 8am-5pm

Location: Onsite, Raleigh, NC

Position Overview

We're looking for a Staff Accountant who enjoys working with numbers, digging into details, and finding ways to make processes more efficient. In this role, you'll support reconciliations, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting activities while partnering with our Controller and finance team to strengthen processes and support the company's growth.

Scope

The Staff Accountant works under moderate supervision, exercising independent judgment. This person must be action-oriented, self-motivated, and creative while being highly functional.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliations and analyze discrepancies to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate differences, and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, including opportunities to use technology and automation.
  • Partner with the Controller and finance team to analyze business performance and improve financial reporting.
  • Document and maintain accounting policies and procedures, updating them as processes evolve.
  • Ensuring invoices are approved, payments are timely, and expenses are properly classified.
  • Work with the Controller to maintain sound accounting practices and effective internal controls.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve accounting questions and discrepancies.
  • Support additional accounting projects and finance team needs as they arise.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required
  • At least 1 year of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong math skills and confidence working with financial data, calculations, and reconciliations
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially when reviewing numbers, identifying discrepancies, and verifying accuracy
  • A consistent habit of double-checking work and investigating errors or inconsistencies before considering a task complete
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables to organize, compare, and analyze financial data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand what drives account balances and resolve discrepancies
  • Clear, proactive communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and vendors
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information
  • An interest in improving processes, learning new systems, and taking on additional responsibility
