We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee all people-related operations for a manufacturing site in Alabama. This role combines strategic partnership with plant leadership and hands-on support for employee relations, labor matters, and core HR programs. The successful candidate will help foster a productive workplace by guiding managers, supporting workforce planning, and ensuring consistent compliance with employment policies and labor requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Direct the full scope of HR activities for a manufacturing facility supporting roughly 200 employees.
• Act as the main advisor to plant leaders and department managers on workforce issues, organizational needs, and people strategies.
• Lead employee relations efforts for both union and non-union staff, including coaching, conflict resolution, and policy guidance.
• Interpret and apply collective bargaining provisions while advising management on contract obligations and practical next steps.
• Oversee grievance handling, disciplinary actions, attendance concerns, and workplace investigations with fairness and consistency.
• Support labor negotiations and sustain positive day-to-day relationships between site leadership and union representatives.
• Manage recruitment and onboarding processes for hourly and salaried employees to ensure effective staffing and a strong onboarding experience.
• Partner with operations on retention planning, performance management, training, succession planning, and employee development initiatives.
• Administer key HR programs such as leave coordination, workers’ compensation, payroll support, benefits alignment, and employee recognition efforts.
• Track HR data including turnover, absenteeism, overtime, and staffing trends while maintaining accurate, confidential employee records and supporting compliance initiatives.
• At least 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or a comparable operational setting.
• Prior HR leadership experience supporting a unionized workforce is required.
• Demonstrated success working with collective bargaining agreements, grievance processes, labor relations matters, and disciplinary procedures.
• Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws and labor regulations.
• Experience conducting sensitive employee investigations and resolving complex workplace issues with sound judgment.
• Ability to build trust with hourly employees, supervisors, union representatives, and senior leadership through clear communication and professionalism.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with HR administration, benefits support, onboarding, and HRIS tools is highly valued.
