Title:Project Engineer

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 (w/ $178/day per diem - 7 days a week)

Location: Wheatfield IN

A leading industrial fabrication and construction contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support largescale, complex construction projects across heavy industrial, chemical, food & beverage, oil & gas, and power sectors. This role is a key partner to the Senior Project Manager, helping drive project planning, budgeting, scheduling, vendor coordination, and cost control to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support estimating teams with detailed project estimates, budgets, and cost analyses

  • Monitor project costs and variances; maintain costcontrol systems

  • Assist in developing project scope, timelines, and execution strategies

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, and Field Operations

  • Support subcontractor selection and alignment with project specifications

  • Develop and maintain project schedules; identify risks and mitigation actions

  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and company policies

  • Assist with change orders, risk tracking, and issue resolution

  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders; provide project updates

  • Prepare project reports, documentation, meeting minutes, and presentations

  • Support contract review, compliance tracking, and issue escalation

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Experience in lieu of degree will also be considered)

  • 4+ years of experience in estimating, project coordination, or construction management

  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling software

  • Strong analytical skills with experience managing budgets and cost reports

  • Excellent communication and crossfunctional collaboration skills

  • Knowledge of construction industry standards, regulations, and safety practices
