Lead the Engineering Behind World-Class Material Handling

Step into a role where you guide a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and launch advanced material handling and automation solutions. As the Automation & Controls Engineering Manager, you’ll be accountable for delivering projects on time, on budget, and to specwhile building a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

A Day in the Role

Your morning might start with a stand-up across mechanical, electrical, systems, and controls engineering to remove roadblocks. Midday, you’re partnering with operations and manufacturing to align integration plans. In the afternoon, you’re reviewing PLC logic or electrical schematics, validating safety compliance, and adjusting resource plans to keep milestones on track. Throughout, you’re coaching your team and communicating with stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, cross-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Own the engineering lifecyclefrom concept and design through prototyping, validation, and production release.
  • Provide hands-on technical direction across mechanical, electrical, systems, and controls disciplines.
  • Drive process improvements and lean initiatives to elevate quality, speed, and cost outcomes.
  • Partner with manufacturing, operations, and other functions to embed robust engineering solutions into production.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to maintain alignment and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Manage budgets, headcount, and equipment to meet program objectives and timelines.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and internal policies.

  • Working knowledge of standards and regulations relevant to automation and material handling systems.
Background & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or related) required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years managing teams.
  • Industry background in material handling, automation, or manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex programs.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
Hands-On Proficiencies
  • PLC troubleshooting and PLC programming experience.
  • Industrial and manufacturing engineering practices; process engineering; production optimization.
  • Industrial electrical systems; 120/208/240/480 VAC power systems.
  • Reading and creating electrical schematics; electrical schematic interpretation.
  • Troubleshooting industrial automation equipment and controls.
