At Catapult, we are supporting our member, the NC Chamber, in their search for a Membership Development Representative. This position is based in Raleigh and requires primarily onsite work during the initial onboarding period, followed by a hybrid schedule.

Summary:

The Membership Development Representative serves as a key member of the NC Chamber's Membership team, supporting membership growth through proactive prospecting, pipeline development, outreach, and lead qualification. This role is responsible for identifying prospective member companies, generating interest in NC Chamber membership, and scheduling qualified meetings for senior membership staff. The position plays a critical role in expanding the Chamber's membership pipeline by connecting North Carolina business leaders with the advocacy, networking, and business development opportunities offered through the NC Chamber.

This position maintains a high volume of outbound prospecting activities through phone, email, LinkedIn, and other communication channels. Working closely with the Membership team, the Membership Development Representative supports membership growth by building relationships with prospective members, maintaining accurate pipeline data, and creating opportunities that contribute to the Chamber's membership and revenue goals.

Responsibilities:

Prospecting and Lead Generation

  • Research and identify prospective member companies throughout North Carolina, with a focus on employers, manufacturers, infrastructure firms, and other growth-oriented businesses.
  • Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified prospects using CRM tools, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, industry research, referrals, and Chamber events.
  • Develop and maintain target account lists aligned with membership growth goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and prioritize prospective member organizations.

Outbound Outreach

  • Conduct high-volume outbound prospecting activities, including phone calls, email campaigns, LinkedIn outreach, and other business development efforts.
  • Maintain a consistent outreach cadence, including an expectation of 40 or more outbound calls per day.
  • Consistently achieve prospecting activity goals, qualified meeting targets, and pipeline development objectives established by Membership leadership.
  • Engage business leaders in conversations regarding their organization's priorities, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Communicate the value of NC Chamber membership, programs, events, advocacy efforts, and business development opportunities.

Meeting Qualification and Scheduling

  • Qualify prospective members based on organizational fit, decision-making authority, and level of interest.
  • Schedule introductory meetings for Membership Executives and other senior membership staff.
  • Prepare meeting notes, prospect background information, and relevant research to support successful handoffs.
  • Ensure a seamless transition of qualified prospects through the membership sales process.

CRM and Pipeline Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all outreach activities, prospect interactions, and next steps within Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators, including outreach activity, meetings scheduled, qualified opportunities created, and pipeline growth.
  • Provide regular pipeline updates and prospecting insights to Membership leadership.
  • Support data integrity and pipeline management processes to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.

Team Collaboration

  • Partner with membership team members to support prospecting campaigns, strategic account outreach, and membership growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with marketing, events, and other internal teams to identify and engage prospective members.
  • Participate in team meetings, training programs, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and results-oriented team environment focused on membership growth and member engagement.

Education, Experience, & Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience; one to three years of experience in sales, business development, customer service, fundraising, recruiting, membership development, or a related field.
  • Experience building relationships through outbound outreach activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet activity goals, performance metrics, prospecting targets, or business development objectives.
  • Experience utilizing CRM systems to manage contacts, activities, and pipeline information.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with business leaders and prospective members.
  • Comfortable initiating conversations through phone, email, LinkedIn, and other outreach channels.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of activity while providing a positive prospect experience.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow-up activities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate record keeping.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working in a performance-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated resilience, persistence, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.

Preferred:

  • Experience using LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
  • Experience in B2B sales, membership organizations, associations, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, or related environments.
  • Familiarity with North Carolina's business community and employer landscape.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel required for meetings or events within NC a few times a year; typically, no more than one night at a time.
