About the Opportunity LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing distribution organization seeking a
Senior Accountant - Inventory Accounting to join its accounting team. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with operations, logistics, and finance leaders while gaining broad exposure to inventory, freight, fixed assets, and general ledger accounting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles within a high-volume distribution or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications.
- Perform freight accounting activities, including expense analysis, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Manage the fixed asset lifecycle, including asset additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
- Ensure compliance with capitalization policies and accounting procedures.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances.
- Support and progressively take ownership of the month-end close process.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
- Analyze profit and loss and balance sheet accounts, providing explanations for fluctuations and trends.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reporting packages for internal stakeholders.
- Identify trends and provide recommendations to support business decisions.
- Partner with operations, logistics, tax, and real estate teams to support accounting and reporting needs.
- Assist with external audit requests and supporting documentation.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and help implement efficiencies across accounting functions.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 2 to 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience within distribution, manufacturing, inventory-intensive, or similar industries preferred.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
- Experience with inventory, cost accounting, freight accounting, or fixed assets highly preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Background- Experience working in a high-volume distribution or supply chain environment.
- Ability to analyze financial data and communicate findings to business leaders.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on process optimization and operational efficiency.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Pay Details: $45.00 to $50.00 per hour
