We are looking for a Project Finance Analyst to support major long-term construction initiatives for our client based in Frederick, MD. This role partners closely with project leadership to guide budgeting, forecasting, cost monitoring, and financial reporting across complex, high-value projects. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, a solid accounting foundation, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with project leaders to develop detailed budgets, staffing projections, and financial plans for large-scale, multi-year construction work.

• Track indirect spending against approved budgets through regular budget-versus-actual reviews, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions.

• Prepare and maintain project cash flow projections, review forecast accuracy each month, and support adjustments that help preserve positive cash performance.

• Produce accurate monthly cost-plus invoices for complex, high-value projects and ensure submissions are completed on schedule.

• Drive procurement planning by coordinating with project teams to outline purchasing needs, timing, compliance considerations, and logistical requirements.

• Evaluate purchasing activity against the approved procurement roadmap, identify gaps, and confirm that any plan changes are supported by sound business rationale.

• Support the creation and ongoing upkeep of the project work breakdown structure to maintain clear financial accountability throughout the project lifecycle.

• Assist in compiling monthly project control reports, perform cost analysis, and work with the project team to document and explain financial shifts such as gains or losses.

• Work on-site on a permanent basis at the project location and provide day-to-day financial support to project operations and management reviews.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of experience in financial analysis, project accounting, or a similar role.
• Working knowledge of core accounting concepts and their application in solving business and project-related issues.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reporting, and financial modeling.
• Demonstrated ability to perform variance analysis and translate findings into clear recommendations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and oversee multiple priorities independently.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with close attention to accuracy and detail.
• Self-directed approach to work, along with a willingness to learn and grow in a project-focused finance environment.
