Biocorp Clinical Laboratory is seeking an experienced and motivated Laboratory Supervisor to provide day-to-day technical and operational supervision of the clinical laboratory. The Laboratory Supervisor will support high-quality and timely patient testing, staff development, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement while promoting a culture of quality, safety, teamwork, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily supervision and technical oversight of clinical laboratory operations.
- Supervise, support, and provide guidance to Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) and other laboratory personnel.
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, workload assignments, and daily workflow to support efficient laboratory operations.
- Assist with employee training, competency assessment, performance evaluation, coaching, and development.
- Ensure compliance with applicable CLIA, CAP, California Department of Public Health (CDPH), OSHA, and other regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Maintain inspection readiness and ensure required laboratory documentation is complete and current.
- Monitor quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, competency, and other quality assurance activities.
- Monitor turnaround times, quality indicators, errors, incidents, and other laboratory performance metrics.
- Investigate laboratory issues and nonconformances, participate in root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions as appropriate.
- Ensure laboratory policies and procedures are current and consistently followed by staff.
- Participate in validation and implementation of new tests, methodologies, instrumentation, and laboratory information system workflows.
- Assist with inventory management, supply monitoring, equipment maintenance, and vendor coordination.
- Collaborate with laboratory management, medical directors, physicians, nursing, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.
- Promote a positive and professional work environment emphasizing patient safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
- Minimum of two (2) years of laboratory leadership or supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical laboratory operations, quality management, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and coordinate laboratory operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems and standard computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Science, or a related field.
- Experience in a moderate- or high-complexity clinical laboratory.
- Experience with CAP accreditation and CLIA compliance.
- Experience with quality improvement, regulatory inspections, competency assessment, and method validation.
