Job Description

This role combines Linux systems engineering, hands-on customer support, and C++ software testing to ensure a highreliability control system performs effectively in realworld environments. You will serve as the voice of the client when customers experience issues, troubleshoot and administer Linux-based systems, and contribute to software quality through testing and documentation. This position offers the opportunity to work on an innovative control system that has the potential to transform operations across asphalt plants and support critical infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact and the voice of the client when customers experience issues with the control system.
• Provide responsive customer support, including troubleshooting, incident resolution, and clear communication of status and next steps.
• Perform Linux systems administration tasks, including configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of Linux environments.
• Support the stability and performance of Linux-based control systems used in asphalt plant operations.
• Assist with C++ software testing when not actively supporting customers, executing test cases and reporting results to the engineering team.
• Contribute to software documentation to ensure clear, accurate, and uptodate information for internal teams and customers.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers and other team members to identify, analyze, and resolve system and application issues.
• Use help desk software and related tools to log, track, and manage customer support requests and resolutions.
• Provide feedback from customer interactions to the engineering team to help improve system functionality, usability, and reliability.
• Follow established procedures and best practices for system administration, testing, and customer support while suggesting improvements where appropriate.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience with Linux system administration, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience working in Linux environments for production or missioncritical systems.
• Practical experience with C++ in the context of software testing or validation.
• Experience in customer or IT help desk support, including direct interaction with end users.
• Ability to act as an effective liaison between customers and internal engineering teams, clearly representing customer needs.
• Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in a structured manner.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills for customer interaction and documentation.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with software documentation, including writing or maintaining technical documents and user-facing materials.
• Familiarity with help desk software or ticketing systems for tracking and managing support requests.
• Understanding of control systems or industrial environments, particularly in process or manufacturing settings.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small engineering team.
• Interest in contributing to technology that supports largescale infrastructure and industrial applications.
• Strong customer service mindset and the ability to remain calm and professional when handling complex or urgent issues.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based, with approximately 95% of the time spent in a dedicated engineering and sales office. The work setting is a clean, neat, and well-organized cube environment with fewer than 40 workstations. The broader organization consists of a family of companies that serve the asphalt plant industry in various capacities and employs roughly 300 people. The company has been in business for around 30 years and is known for a stable, supportive culture with many long-tenured employees. The engineering teams have strong tenure, with many professionals having 2030 years of experience, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable environment. This is a Permanent position based out of Louisville, KY.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
