Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary onsite representative for the owner with key project stakeholders at the Middlesex Water Company site.
  • Manage contractor performance to ensure adherence to project scope, schedule, quality standards, and safety expectations.
  • Oversee project inspectors and special inspectors, providing direction and coordination of inspection activities.
  • Coordinate closely with project engineering staff to align field activities with design intent and technical requirements.
  • Conduct high-level reviews of construction activities to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and regulatory standards.

  • Ensure all project documentation, including reports, logs, and records, is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support review processes for submittals and contractor deliverables, collaborating with engineering and project management teams.
  • Resolve field issues as they arise, working with contractors, inspectors, and internal stakeholders to develop practical solutions.
  • Maintain project schedules and communication channels, facilitating effective information flow among all parties.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day liaison between the owner and contractors, representing project interests in the field.
  • Lead field construction activities, including planning, coordination, and oversight of multi-discipline work.

  • Direct experience with water and wastewater construction, including treatment plants and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Hands-on experience with heavy civil infrastructure related to water and wastewater systems.
  • Experience overseeing process equipment installations in treatment plant environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in active plant construction environments with ongoing operations.
  • Experience leading field construction activities and coordinating multi-discipline construction efforts.
  • Track record of managing inspectors and field project teams in a construction setting.

  • Ability to act as an owner or client liaison, representing project interests and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and managing their performance against project requirements.
  • Strong skills in managing construction documentation and reporting to support project controls and compliance.
  • Background in project management within the wastewater treatment or water infrastructure sectors.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite in Middlesex County, NJ at an active water and wastewater treatment facility project. The Construction Project Manager works closely with an onsite team of approximately 45 field personnel, project inspectors, and special inspectors, as well as an internal team that includes a project engineer, a project manager, and organizational leadership. The project manager supports the work but is not present onsite daily, so the Construction Project Manager serves as the primary day-to-day field lead and point of contact.
