Work location: In person

About the role

F’s Hawaiian Food serves Hawaiian-style plate lunches with welcoming Aloha service. We’re looking for a dependable cook who takes pride in preparing good food, keeping a clean kitchen, and working well with others.

Our kitchen can be fast-paced, especially during rush periods. You’ll manage multiple orders, stay organized, and communicate clearly with the team while maintaining order accuracy, consistent portions, and food safety. Conversational Spanish preferred, but not required, to support communication and teamwork with our kitchen staff.

You will prepare our full menu and provide reliable cooking coverage when our lead cook is off. We provide hands-on training in our recipes and procedures. Before covering shifts independently, you will demonstrate that you can safely manage cooking, order flow, and kitchen opening and closing.

What you’ll do

  • Cook menu items using approved recipes, portions, and presentation standards.
  • Operate the grill, fryer, and other kitchen equipment safely.
  • Prepare ingredients, portion food, rotate stock, and keep stations supplied.
  • Organize order tickets, check accuracy, and communicate with the front counter to keep complete orders moving.
  • Follow food-safety procedures, complete required checks, and promptly report unsafe conditions.
  • Clean and sanitize throughout the shift and complete assigned dishwashing, trash, opening, and closing tasks.
  • Communicate shortages, equipment problems, and next-shift needs to the manager on duty.

What we’re looking for

  • Restaurant or line-cooking experience preferred.
  • Willingness to learn the full menu and demonstrate readiness for independent cooking coverage.
  • Ability to read order tickets and recipes, follow instructions, and communicate clearly.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • An organized approach during busy periods, attention to detail, and willingness to accept coaching.
  • Completion of food-safety training and permits required for assigned duties.

Schedule and work environment

Shifts may include opening, closing, and weekend coverage. Availability and the specific schedule will be discussed during hiring.

The work involves standing, moving among kitchen stations, handling ingredients and supplies, and working around heat, hot oil, knives, and cleaning products. Use safe handling methods and assistance when needed. Essential duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
