Embedded Software Engineer

Join an innovative R&D team developing embedded software solutions that interface directly with hardware. This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining embedded software for products and systems while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams and customers.

Qualifications

Bachelor\'s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field

Proven Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis

5+ years of industry experience in delivering high-quality, innovative applications and programming experience in one or more of the following: C, C++, C# and/or Java.

Practical experience working with embedded hardware

Experience in Object Oriented design and development

Experience following formal software development processes

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work well in a team environment as well as independently with little day-to-day guidance

Demonstrates an ambition to learn

Experience with Linux/Unix and/or Windows

Experience with software version control systems (preferably GIT)

Willing to travel up to 20% as necessary

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software applications and system components
• Translate customer and system requirements into effective software solutions
• Support the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, coding, testing, and deployment
• Participate in code reviews, test planning, and software verification activities
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
• Provide technical leadership and contribute to continuous process improvement

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of software development experience, including 4+ years in embedded systems
• Strong programming skills in C, C++, C#, and/or Java
• Experience working directly with embedded hardware
• Knowledge of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices
• Experience with Linux/Unix and/or Windows environments
• Proficiency with Git or other version control tools
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Full lifecycle product development experience
• Experience in an R&D or new product development environment
• hardware/software integration and system-level troubleshooting experience
• Experience participating in code reviews and test strategy development

This is a Permanent position based out of Goleta, CA.

The pay range for this position is $107000.00 - $145000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
