Commercial Insurance Account Manager - Remote or Hybrid

NewCo Risk

Job Description

Job Description
Commercial Lines Account Manager

Remote (US) or hybrid in St. Louis, Dallas or Austin | Full-time | $60,000–$90,000 base, plus commission on revenue you generate

We are looking for an Account Manager who wants to own client relationships. This is a client-facing role: you will build rapport with your clients and be their expert in insurance. AI, and our trusted team of CSR's, handle much of the tedium, so more of your day goes to the clients themselves.

About NewCo Risk

NewCo Risk is unlike any other broker we know of. We have clients in more than 40 states, and we emphasize professionalism and white-glove service for SMB and middle market commercial clients. Our growth is driven primarily by our diligence work on lower middle market business acquisitions for private equity investors. Outside of M&A, we are generalists, with no insurer, industry or geographic focus.

We use AI everywhere we can to reduce the tedium of data entry. We are a young company, but we are not new to insurance. We are building the company we wanted to work at before we started our own.

Who we are

We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We are quietly confident in who we are: not the best at everything, but we strive to be the best at what we do, and to enjoy ourselves while doing it. These are our values:

  • Professionalism: grit, attention to detail, attentiveness, acumen and accountability
  • Humanity: empathy, respect, and investing in personal growth and development
  • Innovation: kaizen, a can-do attitude, problem solving and unconventional thinking

Here is our deal with you: We give you the freedom to work remotely, be yourself, leave your mark and help shape our company, pursue your passions, and get the support to grow your career. We ask that you take ownership of your work and meet our high standards for accountability to our clients and our team.

What you'll do

You will have your own assigned clients, and we expect you to build rapport with them and be their expert in insurance.

  • Manage your clients. You will be assigned clients and serve as their primary day-to-day contact.
  • Renew and market their insurance. You will own renewals and new business from start to finish, including marketing to insurers, negotiating terms and presenting proposals. AI drives much of the comparison and proposal work, but we want you to have the knowledge, experience and judgment to control the presentation.
  • Learn from our account executives and founders. You will support account executives on larger clients and learn from their expertise and experience.
  • Keep our records right. You will make sure our CSRs maintain accurate records in our agency management system, and that new and renewal business is tracked there at all stages.
Room to grow

There is real room for growth and development here. We want to promote from within as we grow, and working alongside our account executives is where that starts.

What we're looking for

Required

  • An active property and casualty insurance license, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days
  • 3–7 years of commercial insurance experience, preferably with exposure to middle market accounts. Brokerage or agency experience is preferred, but we will consider insurer experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with comfort working with premium calculations, rate analysis and exposure data
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent accounts and deadlines
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with agency management systems and submission platforms
  • Proficiency in AI

Preferred

  • Professional designations such as ARM, AAI, AU or CIC
  • A past job in retail, food service or hospitality. If you have worked a packed dining room or a holiday sales floor, you already know how to look after people under pressure.
  • A four year degree, post-grad, even better.
Compensation and benefits

The base salary is $60,000–$90,000, depending on experience. We believe in rewarding people for performance, so we look to create bonus or commission structures that incentivize our staff to do their best work.

Benefits are negotiable, but can include health insurance reimbursement, a 401(k) match after 90 days, employer-paid short-term disability and basic life insurance, paid time off, and training and development reimbursement.

Did we mention that every day is Casual Friday?
