Bilingual Buyer

NextStep Recruiting has partnered with a global manufacturing organization to identify a Buyer for its Laredo, TX operation. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity and will be 100% onsite, Monday through Friday. The position is newly created due to growth and offers the opportunity to develop into broader supply chain leadership responsibilities as the organization continues to expand.

This position is ideal for a hands-on purchasing professional who knows how to own the procurement processnot someone whose background is primarily logistics, freight, customs, or warehousing. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, takes initiative, enjoys working directly with suppliers, and has the drive and aptitude to grow into a future leadership role.

Required:

• 3–5+ years of direct purchasing/procurement experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills
• Hands-on experience with RFQs, sourcing, purchase orders, quote comparisons, supplier negotiations, pricing, lead times, and vendor performance
• Strong analytical skills with experience in cost analysis, inventory/material planning, forecasting, pricing comparisons, and resolving material shortages
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis, and reporting, along with experience using an ERP/MRP system

Preferred:

• Purchasing experience within automotive/auto parts, cable, electronics, or a Tier 1/Tier 2 manufacturing supplier
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, Logistics, or a related field
• Experience with SAP, QAD, Oracle, Plex, Epicor, or a comparable ERP/MRP platform
• Experience working directly with suppliers across both the U.S. and Mexico
• Demonstrated career stability and the initiative, leadership potential, and desire to grow into broader supply chain responsibilities
