Position Overview

As a Carrier Sales Representative, you'll own carrier capacity for your assigned freight. That means sourcing and negotiating with carriers and building a dependable network of partners. You'll be the first person to step in when coverage or service issues come up. You'll work closely with our Account Managers and tracking team, and you'll report to the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

• Prospect for new carriers through outbound calls, load boards and referrals, and build your own network of dependable partners.
• Help onboard carriers and confirm insurance, safety and compliance requirements before assigning loads.
• Negotiate competitive, sustainable rates with dispatchers, owner-operators and fleet managers.
• Match capacity to freight by location, equipment, timing, service needs and price.
• Negotiate and dispute lumper, detention and other accessorial charges.
• Make sure all assigned freight is covered, using both automated placement and direct sourcing.
• Resolve escalations from our tracking team, recover loads when a carrier falls through, and flag coverage risks early.
• Keep carrier, rate and shipment records accurate in our TMS and internal systems.
• Follow market conditions, capacity and pricing trends.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of freight brokerage experience in carrier sales or sales development.
• Strong negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Organized and calm under pressure when priorities compete.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Preferred

• An existing book of carrier relationships.
• Experience with a TMS, carrier vetting platforms, and industry load boards.
