Job Description

Job Description

Are you a writer, or a service advisor?

A writer takes the order and moves the line. A service advisor runs the visit from the greeting through the delivery.

Bridgewater Chevrolet is a family-owned store. We are hiring a Service Advisor who will follow our process, get better at it, and earn more for doing it right. General Motors experience is preferred. It is not required.

The process is the job. It is not optional.

You prepare before the customer arrives. You know who is coming, and you know what the car has already had done.

You greet them first. You use their name. You stop and listen before you write.

You ask enough questions to understand the concern, and you repeat it back so they know you heard it.

You walk the car with them. Tires. Under the hood. They stay with you. This is how you find what they did not come in for, and how you earn the right to recommend it.

At the desk, you confirm the best way to reach them and text them before they leave. You review the history, the warranties, and any open recalls.

You present the maintenance the car is due for. What it is. How we do it. Why it matters. What it costs and how long it takes. Every customer gets that presentation. New Jersey driving is hard on these cars. You do not skip the recommendation because the conversation is easier without it.

You tell them when to expect the first update. You do not give them the best-case story. You keep them posted before they have to call. When the inspection comes back, you go through it with them and ask for a decision.

You finish the visit with them. You review what was done. You set the next visit. You do not point them at the cashier and walk away.

Training is 3 times a week. We will coach you on this process. If a step is skipped, it gets corrected the same day. The people who stay with it grow their skill and their income.

This is not an order-taker job. It is not a department-manager job. Customer first does not mean you tell them what they want to hear. It does not mean you bend the story to make the sale.

You will not fit if you want to be left alone, if the walk-around feels optional, or if you would rather give the easy answer than the true one.

Responsibilities
  • Greet the customer, listen, and walk the car with them.
  • Explain the work and the price in plain language.
  • Keep the customer updated before they have to call.

  • Learn and master the process.
